Alfred neck is knitted from the bottom up from the chest, then from the top down on the back. Stitches are decreased for the neck opening along the way, and finally stitches are picked up and a rib is knitted and folded. The neck consists of 4 different structural patterns that are repeated front and back, with a border in between to mark the transitions, and a frame of moss stitch around the entire neck. The different structural patterns make the neck elastic, so it fits well.
